You’ll want to print out or bookmark this list of charities if you’re thinking about donating a car in Hawaii. That’s because all of them are local, so your generous donation will be going toward helping your neighbors and the wider community. These charities have also all been reviewed by Charity Navigator, a nationally recognized charity evaluation site which ranks charities based on a score of zero to four stars, based on how efficiency and effectively they manage their finances. All the organizations on this page earned a four or three-star rating.
These charities also all made the list because they take cars and other vehicles as donations and because they are recognized as having 503(c)(3) status by the IRS. Of course, there are many other places to donate a car to in Hawaii. You can give your car to one of the big car donation processors, like ActionDonation or Cars4Charity. But those companies will just sell your car at auction, which means the charity gets maybe 70% or less of the actual Kelly Blue Book Value of your car, and you get to deduct only that value. But if you can find a charity or a religious organization that will actually use your car, then you can typically deduct the full blue book value. So its worth a few calls to find a new home for your car.
